"Electric pallet mover" is usually just another name for an electric pallet jack — a motorized, walk-behind or walk-with machine that lifts a pallet a few inches off the floor and moves it, without lifting to racking height. The name changes between catalogs and manufacturers; the job it does does not.

What is an electric pallet mover?
An electric pallet mover uses a motor to handle the driving and lifting that a manual pallet jack relies on muscle for. You'll see the same piece of equipment called an electric pallet jack, a powered pallet jack, an electric pallet truck, or a walkie pallet jack, depending on the catalog or manufacturer. The name doesn't change what it does: floor-level pallet movement, not vertical lifting to storage height.

Walkie vs rider models
Most electric pallet movers are walkie units, where the operator walks alongside or behind the machine. Some larger models are rider units, with a platform the operator stands on for longer travel distances.
Electric pallet mover vs electric forklift
The two get compared often because both move pallets, but they solve different problems. An electric pallet mover handles floor-level movement: getting a pallet from a trailer to a staging area, or across a warehouse floor. It does not lift a load to racking height, and it doesn't replace a forklift where that's needed.
If your work is mostly horizontal — loading docks, staging, moving pallets between departments — an electric pallet mover is usually the right tool and the lower-cost one. If you need to lift pallets onto shelving or racking, look at an electric stacker for moderate lift heights, or an electric forklift for higher lift and heavier loads.
Where it fits best
Electric pallet movers make the most sense for frequent trailer loading and unloading, long travel distances between receiving and storage, and warehouses or stockrooms that move pallets daily but don't need racking height.
